Kim Scalzo is the Director of Open SUNY and Interim Exec Director of Academic Technologies & Innovation. For the five years preceding the launch of Open SUNY, Scalzo served as Director for SUNY Center for Professional Development. Prior to joining SUNY, Scalzo was an administrator at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where she started as the Director of Professional and Distance Education Program, and moved on to serve as the Director of Distributed Education and Multimedia before a four year term as the Director of Outreach Programs.

Chuck Spuches is a provost fellow working on the SUNY Online project for the State University of New York. He is the former Associate Provost for Outreach at the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF), Dean of the ESF Open Academy, and an adjunct associate professor in the Syracuse University graduate program in Instructional Design, Development, and Evaluation. In addition to his administrative duties at ESF, Spuches taught traditional classroom and online courses on educational project management, planned change and innovation, college teaching, and university outreach.

Larry Dugan, Provost Fellow, SUNY Online Enrollment Management & Student Success

Dr. Larry Dugan is a provost fellow working on the SUNY Online project for the State University of New York. His primary responsibilities include the areas of enrollment management and student success.  As such, he leads a team of dedicated student support specialist who have the primarily responsibility of helping students navigate the sometimes complex world of higher ed enrollment and subsequent challenges our students face every day.  Prior to working at SUNY, Larry was the Director of Elearning at Monroe Community College, Director of Online Learning at Finger Lakes Community College and served as the chair of the Open SUNY advisory council for many years. He has served as President of Rochester Area College Continuing Education group as well as the board of the National University Technology Network.  Before his foray in to administration, Larry was a professor of computer science and business. Over the past few years, he has been an adjunct instructor at numerous SUNY institutions as well as private institutions across NY.

Lynn Ann Hinds McCoy, SUNY Online Student Success Coach

Lynn Ann Hinds McCoy is a native of New York State and lifelong learner. After many years of pursuing her college degree through multiple modalities as an adult, non-traditional student, Lynn Ann completed a BS in Business Management and Economics at SUNY Empire State College. The unique experience at ESC ignited her desire to facilitate other adult students to successfully complete their academic goals and Lynn Ann enrolled in the Masters’ Program, earning her MA in Adult Learning. With a passion for student retention and success, Lynn Ann is an outspoken advocate for the adult student, and the unique needs of this demographic. With a background in nursing and entrepreneurial business ventures, Lynn Ann is currently serving as a SUNY Online Student Success Coach for the Health Care Management program at SUNY Canton.

Tamika Maise is an enthusiastic mother of two boys, a two-year-old and a three-month-old. She is currently a Program Assistant at a nonprofit where she provides administrative support for various programs. She is a recent Jamaican immigrant who studied History at the Undergraduate Level and is hoping to transition in the field of HR.  She is resuming her studies after graduating from the University of the West Indies in 2007. She is currently enrolled in the MBA program with a concentration in HR. She enjoys visiting new places and assisting with charity events.

Harry Cargile, PMP, is the Open SUNY Application Services Manager. He provides leadership to a team administering and providing Tier 2 support for 37 production Blackboard Learn environments with extended responsibilities for Tier 3 coordination, project management, and other areas of training and support. Harry has worked for SUNY for 20 years in the academic technology field and has a great appreciation for being in a positive team-oriented working environment. Mike Walker, Open SUNY Support Services HelpDesk Manager

Mike Walker is the Support Services HelpDesk Manager for Open SUNY. As the HelpDesk Manager, Mike manages a customer service and technical helpdesk staff primarily responsible for online course support for more than half of the colleges that are part of the State University of New York. Mike has been in a supervisor or managerial contact center role for over two decades. He is also the current UUP System Administration Chapter President and the NERCOMP Institutional Representative for System Administration.

Marie A. Cini, President, The Council for Adult & Experiential Learning (CAEL)

Dr. Marie A. Cini is currently the president of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL). Her academic career spans more than 25 years, and she has extensive experience as a C-level academic administrator in universities that predominantly serve adults. In addition to her work at CAEL, she serves on the Board of Directors at Bryant & Stratton College. Dr. Cini was inducted into the International Adult Continuing Education Hall of Fame in 2016.
At CAEL, Dr. Cini is committed to helping colleges, universities, employers and workforce agencies find points of collaboration and connection. She believes that a robust 21st-century economy depends on the lifelong ability of adults to learn new skills that connect them to evolving job opportunities. At the same time, workforce development entities and employers stand to benefit greatly when they provide workers with opportunities to upskill and advance toward openings in high-skill occupations. Dr. Cini’s work advocates a shift in perspective that places adult learners directly in the center of these connections.

Sharon Wavle, Associate Director, Decision Support & Reporting

Sharon Wavle serves as Associate Director of Decision Support & Reporting for the Office of Online Education at Indiana University. She is responsible for university-wide reporting and analysis of online education data and coordinates the university’s approval processes for online programs. Sharon also manages the technical implementation of collaborative online degrees and sharing of online coursework across the university. Sharon has presented her research on the impact of online education on student success at the OLC International Conference, the national AIR Forum, and the UPCEA Summit for Online Leadership. Sharon received a B.S. in Economics from SUNY Geneseo, an M.S. in Computer Science from Syracuse University, and is completing an Ed.D. in Instructional Systems Technology from Indiana University.

Matthea Marquart is a social worker, leader, educator, and online education expert. She is the Director of Administration for the Online Campus at Columbia University’s School of Social Work (CSSW), where she leads a team responsible for implementing Columbia’s online Master’s of Science in Social Work program. A CSSW alumna, instructor, and administrator, she has supported the School’s online MSSW program from initial course pilots and instructor training through program launch and expansion. She teaches in CSSW’s management program, preparing a new wave of nonprofit and human services leader; courses taught include Workers and the Workplace, Macro Community Practice, Motivational Interviewing Skills-Based Lab,Human Behavior in the Social Environment B: Racial Identity Development, and Staff Development, Training, and Mentoring.

Ms. Marquart created and co-facilitates CSSW’s intensive Institute on Pedagogy and Technology for Online Courses, which has provided over 250 graduates with a foundation of skills and knowledge for quality online instruction, and which has been recognized with awards from the United States Distance Learning Association, the University Professional Continuing Education Association, and the International E-Learning Association.

Dr. Cali M.K. Morrison is the Associate Dean of Alternative Learning at American Public University System (APUS) where she is building competency-based learning opportunities, microcredentials, and the prior learning assessment program. She earned an Ed.D. in higher education administration and M.Ed. in student affairs at Montana State University and a graduate certificate in women’s studies and a B.A. in public relations at Western Kentucky University. Previously Cali was assistant director, communications and analysis at the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies (WCET) and project director of Transparency by Design, where she became interested in studying adult learners and accountability. In 2012 she also ran the WCET Games + Badging initiative at WCET “You’ve got CLASS.” Cali spent over seven years at Montana State University managing Extension Service grants, conducting assessment and managing the Hughes Undergraduate Biology Program, as well as serving as the Greek advisor. Current research interests include competency-based education and the future of credentials. Cali has presented at various conferences on the future of credentials, competency-based education, and accountability in higher education. Cali lives in Belgrade, Montana with her husband, two daughters, and dogs where she is active in the community, especially with the Girls for a Change and CAP mentoring programs.

Jaymes Walker-Myers serves as the Associate Vice President of Learning Science and Assessment for Southern New Hampshire University.
